This quick and easy vintage pancakes recipe comes from 1950s Australian Women’s Weekly cookbook.
Fan fact: This vintage recipe was one of the three recipes in the Nestle’s advertisement published in the cookbook.
To make these light and delicious pancakes you will need
- 4 oz flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg
- 12 oz tin Ideal Milk (Nestle’s evaporated milk)
- Lemon juice
- Sugar
Cooking Steps
Sift flour and salt into bowl. Make a well in centre, add egg, mix well.
Add 1/2 Ideal Milk, beat for 5 minutes; gradually stir in rest of Ideal.
Melt fat in frying pan. Pour off excess then pour in batter.
Toss or turn when cooked.
Sprinkle with castor sugar, lemon juice; roll up, serve with golden syrup.
