Journey to the West is one of the four most cherished classics of Chinese literature. It was written by the Ming Dynasty novelist Wu Cheng’en in the 16th century. The beautifully written novel has everything your teens and preteens will love: adventure, action, humor, and inspiring lessons about perfecting one’s character. The beloved and somewhat mischievous character of Monkey King (also known as Sun Wukong) is one of the main characters of this novel.
I wanted to include the book in my kids’ homeschool curriculum but the lowest price I could find for the unabridged translation was $120 (4 volumes, used books). So I found this free Journey to the West online and wanted to share it with you.
