You know, scones are made in many ways but this one is an antique recipe from Mrs.beeton’s cookery book, written in 1910. They look like a mix between pancakes and English muffins, and of course, scones. They can be eaten with anything from jam to ham. Let’s get started!
You will need:
9 oz flour
1 oz sugar
1 tsp cream of tartar
¼ baking soda
½ tsp salt
1 egg
1 pint milk
Directions:
Pass the flour, salt, cream of tartar and baking soda through a tea strainer and into a bowl, then add sugar. Make a hole in the center, and place the egg. Add the milk gradually until smooth batter is obtained.
For frying:
Mix and place onto a hot, greased pan. Fry on one side till brown then flip over and brown on the other side let them chill for 5 minutes.
Enjoy!
