Yotsukawa Seisakusho is an amazing maker of fine bronzeware from Takaoka, a birthplace of the Takaoka bronzeware–the town that has over four centuries of Monozukuri (casting) heritage. Today in Takaoka, the elite artisans work independently for different brands, including Kisendo, a company that designs and produces flower vases, incense burners, ornaments and tea kettles to add vibrant metal beauty to our lives.
To make each kettle or incense burner, it has to be first designed by sculpting it out of clay. The master craftsman doesn’t take any shortcuts and tirelessly fine-tunes each flower petal, animal paw, and every detail of the pattern of the future object. Once the model is complete, it is covered in silicone, which is the first mold (there will be several more). Take an exiting behind-the-scenes look at master craftsman’s work process.
